Another milestone was achieved by the QA team of 99X Technology, as they successfully launched Sri Lanka’s first-ever open source reference test automation framework called ‘SeShell.’ Mano Sekaram, CEO and Co-founder of 99X Technology, officially launched the project and its logo at the Colombo Selenium Meetup which was held at the 99X Technology office premises.
There were many participants who came from various local IT companies to witness the launch of the ‘SeShell.’
Jason Huggins, the creator of the Selenium project, which is one of the best testing automation tools used by many software testers across the globe, was very pleased and happy to see this reference test automation framework being compiled and gave his complete support and guidance towards this project.
This unique framework is built on a platform of world renowned open source libraries such as Selenium Web Driver, NUnit and Log4Net. The frameworks support crossbrowser testing and data driven testing. The test scripts are written using a concept called ‘page object model.’
Some of the benefits of the ‘SeShell’ framework include that there is no need of copyright fee, test scripts can be easily written, maintainability of Test Suite, real time updates in results dashboard, use of best concepts and practices, easy configuration and saves time and effort.
This framework was released in order to enhance the experience of QA engineers’ skills in web test automation and is also aimed at IT companies lacking automation frameworks to help them step into the arena of test automation.
This framework was released by 99X automation research development team namely Eranga Uduwawala, Kishan Navaratne, Janith Gunasekara, Malinda Perera, Sahan Serasinghe and Himeshi De Silva.
As the next phase of this project, the team aims to release the Java version by January 2013 which will enhance the framework for mobile and HTML5 application automation.
