CICRA Holdings, Sri Lanka’s premier cyber security training and consultancy organisation, yesterday announced the launch of EC-Council Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP) certification in Sri Lanka.

The EDRP training and certification is globally accepted as high-end training in disaster recovery and business continuity with special emphasis to the present day challenges of the corporate sector. “Due to heavy use of various computer-aided devices, systems and networks in modern corporate sector, disaster recovery is becoming an increasingly important aspect of enterprise computing,” CICRA Holdings Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said. “Most of the business enterprises lack IT preparation for natural and manmade disasters. May be there are no proper data back-ups, failover sites or any other recovery mitigation plan while those who have established their disaster recovery plans, have not yet tested for their competencies,” Dayaratne said. “Hence, it would be a pre-requisite to have a sound knowledge in disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.” “EDRP is not essentially targeting IT professionals. Those who are involved in decision making on the ICT policies and procedures of the organisations would also be benefited from this training,” he said. EDRP takes an enterprise-wide approach to develop a disaster recovery plan. Participants will learn how to create a secure computer system by putting policies and procedures in place, and how to restore a system in the event of a disaster. The EDRP course teaches the methods in identifying vulnerabilities and how to take appropriate countermeasures to prevent and mitigate failure risks for an organisation. It also provides the networking professional with a foundation in IT disaster recovery course principles, including preparation of a disaster recovery plan, assessment of risks in the enterprise, development of policies, and procedures, and understanding of the roles and relationships of various members of an organisation, implementation of the plan, and recovering from a disaster. The first five day EDRP training will start on 7 August. More information is available at: www.cicra.lk.
