CICRA Institute of Education is offering scholarships to follow Certified Ethical Hacking (C|EH) & Counter Measures, a course leading to a professional qualification offered by the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), USA .

“Under this scholarship program, 210 university students will be entitled for a 60 percent waiver of course fees charged to follow C|EH v7 program. They will also receive a complimentary exam voucher worth US$500,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“Scholarship recipients will follow the course conducted by EC-Council accredited international trainer. After the five-day training, the students can sit for the four-hour prometric exam at CICRA. After passing the exam, they can use the title C|EH after their name,” Dayaratne said.

“This course will significantly benefit students who plan a career as IT professions including information security officers, site administrators, IT auditors and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure. Career prospects of a C|EH qualified candidate are greater and they can expect higher wages and other benefits,” he said.

“The C|EH course prepares students into an interactive environment where they will be shown how to scan, test, hack and secure their own systems. The lab intensive environment gives each student in-depth knowledge and practical experience with the current essential security systems.” He said.

“Students will begin by understanding how perimeter defenses work and then be lead into scanning and attacking their own networks, but no real network is harmed. Students then learn how intruders escalate privileges and what steps can be taken to secure a system.

Students will also learn about Intrusion Detection, Policy Creation, Social Engineering, DDoS Attacks, Buffer Overflows and Virus Creation.”

“When a student leaves this intensive five-day class they will have hands on understanding and experience in Ethical Hacking. They are well prepared to serve in the corporate IT divisions,” he said. Dayaratne said that those who are interested in applying for the above scholarship shall apply online through CICRA website www.cicra.lk and go to ‘scholarships for university students’ page from the drop down menu and then complete the form and submit his/her application.

The online applications shall be submitted on or before 1700 hrs Sri Lanka Time on 3 March 2012.
