Following an invitation from the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM), CICRA Consultancies, the premier cyber security training and consultancy company in Sri Lanka, participated in ‘Cyber Endeavour’ Program of the USPACOM held recently in Singapore.

CICRA also conducted a full day training session on cyber security and disaster recovery to top military officers from 28 nations in the Asia Pacific region at the conference. The training session was conducted by CICRA master trainer Krishnan Rajagopal.

“We managed to make the audience realise the importance of cyber security with regard to national defence and disaster recovery. We CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne and Master Trainer Krishnan Rajagopal with a group of top military officers representing member nations of the Multinational Communications Interoperability Program at the Cyber Endeavor Program on 16 August at Changi Control and Command Centre of the Singapore Naval Basealso received very positive feedback from the audience,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“We are pleased to see that the US Pacific Command is taking a proactive role in cyber defence as part of disaster recovery and communication,” Dayaratne said.

“Reactive cyber defence is a costlier exercise after the damage had already been done. CICRA encourage all sectors in the public and private sector to play a similar proactive role with regard to cyber defence,” he said.

Top multinational companies such as Microsoft, McAfee, CISCO, Symantec and SANS were also at the ‘Cyber Endeavour 2012’ program. The program was held at the Changi Control and Command Centre of the Singapore Naval Base from 6 to 17 August.

‘Cyber Endeavour’ program is part of ‘Pacific Endeavour’ annual workshop series that helps to identify and document communications and information systems interoperability among the participants. The participants to this program are from member nations of the Multinational Communications Interoperability Program (MCIP).

This program is designed to operationalise the goals of the MCIP and satisfy the intent of the USPACOM Theatre Security Cooperation Program.

Established in 2004, Pacific Endeavour is an annual workshop designed to confirm participating nations are capable of communicating with one another in the event of a natural disaster and ensures the success of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations when there is a crisis.
