The team CICRA Warriors, past cyber security students of CICRA Consultancies Ltd., won the Hacking Challenge 2013 organised by Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team| Coordination Centre (SLCERT|cc) as part of recently held annual Cyber Security Week.
The winning team comprised Kushantha Gunawardena, Dilshaan Perera and Suresh Rupasinghe. All of them have qualified as Certified Ethical Hackers (C|EH) – a global qualification offered by USA based International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) – after completing extensive training at CICRA.
Dilshaan and Kushantha have also been certified as Computer Hacking Forensic Investigators (C|HFI) by the EC-Council after successful training and examination at CICRA.
“All three members of the team have also witnessed positive career growth following their training with CICRA. Dilshaan has been hired by a top global penetration testing company in Hong Kong while just graduated Suresh has been hired by the LOLC IT. In addition to having been the Head of Information Technology Division – South Asia of the Intermediate Technology Development Group, Kushantha is also developing his career as a cyber-security trainer,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.
The Ethical Hacker
“The Ethical Hacker is an individual who is usually hired by corporates and who can be trusted to undertake an attempt to penetrate networks and/or computer systems using the same methods and techniques as a Hacker,” Dayaratne said.
“During a C|EH class, students work in a hands-on environment where they will be shown how to conduct ethical hacking. They will be exposed to an entirely different way of achieving optimal information security posture in their organisation; by hacking it! They will scan, test, hack and secure their own systems.”
“Corporates should hire at least one C|EH to their IT team to protect the IT infrastructure,” Dayaratne stressed.
“The C|HFI certification will fortify the application knowledge of law enforcement personnel, system administrators, security officers, defence and military personal, legal professionals, bankers, security professionals, and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure,” he added.
CICRA is Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy provider. It is an accredited training centre of the EC-Council.
