The CSSL was established in 1976 in Sri Lanka for the purpose of promoting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and professionalism among those engaged in this field, and to maintain the highest professional standards among the ICT fraternity.

OPA is the representative body of leading professional organisations in Sri Lanka. The OPA is in its 34th year and is recognised as the organisation representing major professions in the country. There are 42 member associations, with a total membership of about 36000 professionals.

Outsourcing is to contract out an organisation’s operations to a third party. If Business Processes such as customer service (call centre) activities, financial accounting, ICT support, data entry, data management, administration and other organisational functions are outsourced, then it is termed Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). This sector is emerging as an important sector for foreign revenue generation and youth employment creation.
