The 30th National Information Technology Conference (NITC), organised by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka, will be held from 9 to 11 of July at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo under the theme ‘ICT for GAP: Governance, All, Peace.
The National Information Technology Conference, one of the topmost ICT conferences held annually in Sri Lanka, provides a forum for industry practitioners and academia to keep up to date with current technology trends, interact with industry experts and network with peers.
NITC ’12 emphases the role of ICT in strengthening good governance; promoting equal opportunities; and sustaining peace. This year’s conference will comprise of three parallel sessions namely e-governance, mobile computing, Social media and cloud computing, in addition to the general sessions scheduled for 10 and 11 July. Further, a series of six post-conference workshops has been scheduled for 12 of July to be held at Hotel Renuka, Colombo. Prominent local and foreign speakers will share their insights during the conference and the post conference workshops.
The 30th NITC would create a platform for discussion on different perspectives as to how ICT could be used to overcome challenges the nation is confronting within its transition to a developed nation. The NITC’12 will bring together a cross section of policy makers, cabinet ministers, key government officials, private sector leaders, academics, professionals, researches, representatives of international organisations and top corporate personnel in the country to discuss the emerging role of ICT for development of the country.
A large number of participants are expected to attend the conference. Over 500 participants attended the conference last year.
