Dialog Axiata PLC partnered with Tenaga Car Parks to introduce parking meters for the first time in Sri Lanka. The first two solar-powered parking meters were installed at Baron Jayathilala Mawatha in Colombo and users currently could use coins to purchase parking tickets. With the partnership with Dialog Synergy services ‘Touch,’ eZ Cash and Add-to-Bill will be implemented in the near future. ‘Touch’ cards that enable Near Field Communication (NFC) technology were recently introduced by Dialog to facilitate contactless payments and transport ticketing, while eZ Cash allows the users of Dialog and Etisalat to carry out payments and transactions using their mobile phones. With the Add-to-Bill solution, users simply have to key in his or her mobile number after which a PIN will be provided via mobile for the user to utilise the parking facility. The charges will be added to the user’s phone bill at the end of the month. Dialog has constantly been at the forefront of introducing innovative new technologies to Sri Lanka, and through this partnership with Tenaga Car Parks, the pioneer in parking, traffic management services in the country, the operator is enabling the extension of additional payment and location-based services to the market.
