Becomes first brand to launch Octa Core smartphone in local market A new benchmark in speed has been reached in Sri Lanka’s smartphone market with the arrival of the E-tel Curiosity O9, the first Octa Core smartphone to go on sale in the country. The brand’s promoter Brantel said the O9 will be the fastest phone in Sri Lanka, and will further strengthen E-tel’s position as the third highest selling smartphone brand in the local market. Powered by the cutting-edge MediaTeck 1.7 GHz Octa-Core Processor, the E-tel Curiosity O9 runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, offering smartphone aficionados best-in-class performance and top-end features at an unbeatable price. The sleek and stylish dual SIM phone has a standard and a micro SIM port, is HSPA and Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Hotspot enabled, and has a 5-inch 16M colour full touch High Definition IPS display. Named after the Curiosity rover sent to Mars, the E-tel smartphone range sold in Sri Lanka now comprises of the Curiosity i4, i5c, i6 and i7c series, the Curiosity N3 released in early March 2014 and the Curiosity O9 released in late July 2014. E-tel phones are available in nearly 2000 dealer outlets in Sri Lanka and via a Brantel owned after sales service network of six service centres in Colombo, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Matara, Negombo and Jaffna. Brantel has been in operation in Sri Lanka since 2004 and launched the E-tel brand in 2008.
