Epic Lanka, a technology leader in providing e-security and e-payment solutions to corporate organisations in Sri Lanka and the region has announced its partnership with EC-Council Cyber Security Summit 2016.
The summit on 9 August in Colombo, held for the fourth consecutive year will comprise of a Cyber Security Summit for IT professionals targeting senior officials from the corporate and government sectors, and a ‘Night Hack’ – an innovative and informative evening, showcasing the immediate and potential threats and dangers posed by cyber criminals today. There will also be a separate evening meeting for CEOs of the top corporations on cyber security on 8 August.
The summit will feature high profiled international IT security experts including those who have worked with the Interpol and Fortune 500 companies.
The event is co-organised by CICRA Holdings – Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy provider – and the Daily FT.
We are compelled to live in a tightly networked world today. This exposes all of us to greater cyber risks. As we know, even the international warfare has moved to cyber than physical as cyber attacks can cause more critical damages to people, organisations and nations. Damage due to cyber crime in the world has exceeded $ 400 billion as per published information. However, it is somewhat disturbing to note that many of us still either give less priority to cyber security or insufficiently protected for cyber attacks, which actually should have been in the top of our agenda. It is time for all of us to pay extra attention in implementing effective strategies to sufficiently protect ourselves from possible and eminent cyber crime,” said Epic Lanka Group Chairman/Managing Director Nayana Dehigama.
“I am delighted to have partnered this year’s Cyber Security summit as Sri Lanka Premier Technology Conglomerate. Our solutions at Epic are all locally developed and conform to the highest security standards ever,” Dehigama added during the ceremony to announce Epic Lanka’s partnership with the summit recently in Colombo.
Speaking at the ceremony, CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said last three Cyber Security Summits were a tremendous success and he expected this year’s summit to create more awareness amongst the corporates on cyber security risks and how to mitigate those perils.
The main objective of the summit is to create awareness on the importance of Cyber Security and to provide top officers in the government, top private sector leaders, IT professionals with the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring information security postures of their organisations and counter measures.
The summit will also highlight latest flaws in information security that affects the global community including the corporations and the governments. Discussions and presentations will revolve around some of the most malicious attacks and potential threats surrounding the security field.
