Brown & Company PLC is in the process of replacing its current IT system with the Microsoft Dynamics AX Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in order to perform its business operations efficiently and effectively making timely decisions to stay ahead in a highly competitive business environment.

ERP merges each of the company’s key operations, including the trading, manufacturing, investments, distribution, financial, human resources and customer relations departments, into one software system in order to increase the company’s efficiency, performance and profitability.

Group Managing Director and CEO Murali Prakash stated: “The ERP will provide the company with the technical advancement required to improve processes and facilitate the growth envisaged. All sales and service points across the island will be networked through regional hubs and ERP driven solutions, offering our customers an innovative, high quality experience.”

Chief Information Officer Dinesh Samarathunga stated: “We think of this ERP implementation as a means of “business transformation.”  “In order to have agile business practices for the group we intend to automate world class functions and processes across the organisation.

In this effort we will need to make decisions on how precisely these functions should operate to support the day to day business activities.

We have put together a business core team drawn from various business disciplines who are very well experienced and knowledgeable on current businesses at Browns and with H ONE our strategic consulting and implementation partner we are strongly committed in making this ERP implementation a success.”

“Our extensive experience in the enterprise software market enables us to assist clients to employ more competitive consulting cost, maximise their internal resources through effective knowledge transfer and achiever accelerated implementation and development timelines,” said Samath Fernando, CEO of H One Ltd.

“We are delighted that a renowned organisation such as the Browns Group recognised our capabilities in this field and chose H One and Microsoft Dynamics AX for their ERP solutions,” he added.

Using their deep understanding of Sri Lankan consumer needs derived from over 135 years in business, Browns have grown quietly yet exponentially into the active and valuable company they are today – simply and unobtrusively by greatly expanding their portfolio and delivering excellence in products, services and value to Sri Lankans everywhere.
