ESRI appoints GIS Solutions as sole distributor for Sri Lanka

Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. (ESRI) has appointed GIS Solutions (Private) Limited as its new sole Distributor for Sri Lanka effective 1 April.

ESRI is a leading developer of geographic information systems (GIS) software which is used to create and label digital maps, publish maps on the Internet, and build related databases. ESRI was founded in 1969 with its Head Quarters in Redlands, California. It has since grown to have 10 regional offices in the US and a network of 80 international distributors with approximately a million users in 200 countries. ESRI has 2,500 employees in the US and an estimated 14,500 worldwide users now attend the Annual ESI User Conference in San Diego.

GIS Solutions (Private) Limited will market the ArcGIS product line to local customers which include government, local government, survey and mapping, environment and forestry, disaster management, urban development, land use planning, defence, census and statistics, transportation, utility boards such as water, electricity and telecommunications and universities and educations institutions.

The local company also plans to build on the ESRI Alliances with major technology leaders such as Amazon Web Services, AT&T, Citrix, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, SAS and others to ensure product compatibility that provides users with a wide range of technology solutions.

Additionally it will have the support of international ESRI business partners to provide professional services in consulting and project implementation, to facilitate capacity building and knowledge transfer to help our local users deploy GIS on their own, customization of off-the-shelf GIS technology, and delivery of ready-to-use enterprise systems.
