eSys Technologies Lanka (Pvt) in partnership with global cloud security giant Trend Micro Incorporated launched its groundbreaking ‘cloud security’ Titanium internet security products for consumer and SME use in Sri Lanka for the first time.
Within eight to 10 months of Titanium’s presence in Sri Lanka’s consumer markets, eSys and Trend Micro plan to acquire market leadership and are looking to establish a strong consumer brand base to sustain further growth and developments.
Cloud security is a technological solution that revolutionises the approach to internet security by scanning and intercepting internet threats externally from a third party site (the cloud) prior to any threat reaching the computer.
This key aspect of Micro Trends Titanium 2011 (a 1-3 user consumer product) along with Trend Micro Worry Free and Trend Micro DLP Solutions (an SME solution) takes the majority of a computer’s internet threat processing to an external site and facilitates automatic updates and protection management from there.
By moving the bulk of threat processing (up to 80% of threats) out of the computer, more disk space is created and the machine benefits from a faster more efficient performance along with increased web protection.
Expanding on the partnership between eSys and Trend Micro, CEO eSys Technologies Shafraz Hamzadeen stated: “eSys Technologies is the leading technology distributor of software, hardware and networking products in Sri Lanka. Our job is to bring key enablers to consumers and we are introducing our new products with the leading global internet security company, Trend Micro, who are content security experts and generate annual revenue of US$ 1 billion.”
Highlighting Sri Lanka’s growing need for internet security solutions, Trend Micro Incorporated, National Sales Manager, India & SAARC, Bivash Chatterjee stated: “With Sri Lanka undergoing increased broadband penetration, there are more open spaces online where the risk of threats is constantly increasing. Increased social media channels and online transactions have created a greater need for the preservation of personal information and reputation protection. With a strong digital underground, you never know what people are doing with your reputation and your finances. Protective measures to ensure parental control of the internet and protection for mobile services are also in demand.”
Emphasising how Titanium 2011 caters to the multiple needs of the consumer, Chatterjee explained: “We don’t provide just an antivirus solution for consumers, we provide an entire internet security solution for PC’s and mobile devices that meet multiple consumer needs. Every 3.5 seconds a malware threat emerges from somewhere across the globe, we have thousands of threat specialists who not only anticipate threats, but also develop remedial steps to manage them within a few hours. Our cloud technology also allows for automatic updates that provide protection for the most recent of threats. Our parental control checks ensure that children are not compromised by harmful content and parents can manage everything from the sites they have access to, to the time period they can use the internet for, without looking over their shoulders.”
eSys and Trend Micro are presently trying to establish a strong customer base and consumer driven brand awareness of the Titanium range, which they will use, as a foothold to diversify and expand their growth strategy further.
By generating brand awareness of their Titanium internet security products in consumer markets, they hope to build brand awareness that will spread to SME markets. Within a year of Trend Micro’s Titanium 2011 establishing a presence in Sri Lanka they hope to topple current consumer internet security brand Kaspersky and secure market leadership.
