Leading mobile telecommunications company Etisalat Lanka and Falck, the world’s largest emergency medical service provider, announced a partnership that will give access to the Telco’s customer base to emergency medical treatment.

Adding to its growing customer-centric service offering Etisalat enabled its customers to receive first aid advice through Falck’s emergency medical help line 1990 earlier this year. The partnership with Falck will further advanced the company’s mobile health services.

The agreement will allow the Etisalat customer base to register for Falck membership through the telco.  A customer can type “REG” and SMS to 1-9-9-0 to instantly register for Falck services.  The system introduced by Falck under this partnership is a first in world mobile health and emergency medical services. It innovatively combines an easy to use micropayment gateway onto a mobile phone operating platform, making high quality medical care both affordable and accessible to Sri Lankans.

“Innovation and customer centric services are our core priority and Etisalat is committed to continuously offering exceptional value added services to our customers.  Our partnership with Falck marks the foundation of a long term plan to introduce and develop mobile health services in Sri Lanka.  We are pleased to partner with the world’s largest emergency medical service company in this endeavour,” said Dumindra Ratnayaka, Director/CEO of Etisalat Lanka.

“Falck is committed to upholding the international standards of healthcare it offers around the world in Sri Lanka.  When rolling out our mobile health platform, we want to ensure that our service is accessible and affordable.  Etisalat is a strong partner in this endeavour,” said Donnie Woodyard Jr., Managing Director, Falck.

“The micro payment option we are offering gives Sri Lankans affordable accesses to world class emergency medical services, through their mobile phones. Falck plans to maintain a strong and growing service offering in Sri Lanka through mobile service.”
