Etisalat has announced plans for three more Android forums, following the success of the first earlier this month.
The event saw almost 2,000 people vie for entrance passes and the attendance of 1000 guests. Following the enthusiasm that the first forum garnered, Etisalat has planned another three, this time on diversified topics which will focus on specific audiences and their needs.
Etisalat’s CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka, commented on the event, saying: “Etisalat was the first telco in Sri Lanka to realise the potential that Android based technology possesses. We identified the importance and the value it could add to customers and hence the first ever Android forum in Sri Lanka. It was a forum unlike no other seen or carried out before in this country.”
“The high interest in the forum and the buzz it created are testaments to the fact that the consumers share our vision for the potential of Android,” he added.
The crowd itself was a diverse cross section of technocrats. The forum was attended by CEOs and CTOs of major corporates, representatives from leading local IT firms and members of the application development community. However, budding tech enthusiasts also attended; with much of the audience comprising of university and upper school students and tech-savvy youth.
Ratnayaka elaborated: “We were breaking new grounds and the first forum catered to a large audience of various interests and understanding. This was a learning experience for us and much was learnt. We decided that our future forums will be more focused with specific content appealing to specific audience segments.”
At the beginning of next year Etisalat is looking to host three more forums. The first is ‘ABC of Android,’ which will focus on Android for beginners; a forum that will provide newcomers to the world of Android with an introduction into its potential.
The second is called ‘Android for Business,’ a forum which will be focused on the applications of Android in the business modelling. This forum will be aimed at a corporate audience who can apply the technology to maximise their business potential.
The third forum, which will be geared to the developers themselves, is the ‘Deep Dive into Android Development’ which is aimed at App developers. This will be the most technologically advanced forum looking to educate application developers and software engineers on working on the Android Platform.
