Etisalat rings ‘Mega Cash’

Etisalat Lanka recently launched ‘Mega Cash’, a SMS-based quiz promotion with total prize winnings of over Rs. 8 million and a grand prize of Rs. 3 million.

Etisalat Lanka customers who register to participate in this almost three-month long promotion will be sent a range of questions via SMS on topics such as sports, history, geography, music and culture. Customers can register for the ‘Mega Cash’ promotion by SMSing ‘WIN’ to 2012.

‘Mega Cash’ promo will last for 83 days and with total winnings of over Rs. 8 million. Over these 83 days, Rs. 30,000 will be given to 72 daily winners, Rs. 300,000 to 11 weekly winners and a grand prize of Rs. 3 million for the overall winner of the promotion. Given the prizes on offer, contestants will be charged a price of Rs. 30 per SMS response.

Speaking about the promotion, Channa Munasinghe, Head of Value Added Services of Etisalat Lanka stated: “Mega Cash is an exciting promotion that we feel will appeal to a majority of our growing customer base. We believe in inspiring people to achieve their goals, and this quiz competition does exactly that – it tests their knowledge across a variety of topics, focuses them on achieving their goals and rewards those who answer correctly with substantial cash prizes that will surely keep everyone interested.”

Questions on the various topics will be sent to all those who have registered for the promotion. All those who send in will accumulate points and thereby increase their chances of winning. For the daily prize and the grand prize the higher the points scored by the contestant, the higher the probability of winning.

The weekly prize will be won by the contestant with the highest points at the end of the week. Picking of winners will be strictly based on an automated system run by the company in the presence of representatives of the western province revenue department.

The promo will be carried out in English, Sinhala and Tamil languages in order to reach a wider audience and thereby get better participation. Daily and weekly winners will be announced through the press while the grand prize winner will be awarded the prize at a special event organised by the company. The promo ends on 30 December 2012.
