Forum on ‘Entrepreneurs and Innovators: For the Future Economic Growth of Sri Lanka’

The SLASSCOM Thought Leadership Forum on ‘Entrepreneurs and Innovators: For the Future Economic Growth of Sri Lanka’ will be held on 7 February from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dialog Future World Auditorium Excel World Entertainment Complex. The event will examine the role of entrepreneurs and innovators in the future economic growth of the country. It will examine the concept of Innovation, its relationship with entrepreneurship and the policy framework that can enable both innovation and entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka. The keynote address which will be delivered by Dr. Harold J. Raveche – President of Innovation Strategies International, LLC, will be followed by a panel discussion with eminent panellists including: Dr. Harold J. Raveche; Harsha Purasinghe – Founder, CEO of Microimage; Thilan Wijesinghe – Chairman at TWCorp  Ltd.; Mafaz Ishaq – Co Founder of Lankan Angel Network (LAN); Prof. Ajith Madurapperuma –Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Open University of Sri Lanka; and Madu Ratnayake – Senior Vice President, General Manager, Virtusa, Sri Lanka (Moderator). Raveche is the President of Innovation Strategies International, LLC.  www.innostrategies.com, with projects in Asia, Latin America and India. He serves as Founding Board Director of Vision Technology Systems (www.vt-systems.com), the US Division of Singapore Technologies and Founding Director of Biogen (www.biogendr.com) which manufactures patented technology that converts biomass to synthetic gas for production of electric and thermal energy. He previously was board director of electronics, power generation and financial organisations. He served as the 6th President of Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey from 1988 to 30 June 2010. Dr. Raveche is internationally recognised as an innovator for research universities, business growth and economic development. He has extensive experience in Asia, Latin America, India and Muslim-majority nations. For example, he served as Entrepreneur in Residence at the National University of Malaysia (UKM), has conducted innovation workshops at numerous universities in Asia and is currently an advisor to the Saigon High-Tech Park Innovation Centre.
