Free courseware given to Cyber Security Summit participants

Each participant of the Cyber Security Summit 2015 in Sri Lanka will receive free courseware and exam vouchers worth Rs. 17,000 from the EC-Council, US, organisers of the summit said yesterday.

Jointly organised by Daily FT – Sri Lanka’s only business and finance newspaper and CICRA Consultancies Ltd. (CICRA) – Sri Lanka’s pioneering information security training and consultancy provider, the summit will be declared open by Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando.

“For the third consecutive year we have organised the Cyber Security Summit on 29 and 30 September at the Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. This year we want to reward all the participants with a free gift which is worth more than what they pay,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“Supported by ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) for the third consecutive year, the Cyber Security Summit has now become a national event amongst the information security and IT industry in Sri Lanka,” Dayaratne said.

This year’s summit has four events bundled together.

The first event is a Cyber Security Summit for IT professions targeting senior officials from the corporate and government sectors.

“We expect a strong turnout of Information Security professionals to attend this event including security officers, auditors, security professionals, site administrators, e-Business Security professionals, systems administrators, legal professionals, banking, insurance and other professionals, government agencies, IT managers, police and other law enforcement personnel, defence and military personnel and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure,” Dayaratne said.

The second event is the ‘Night Hack’, an evening informative session for the summit participants including live demonstrations.

Both above events will take place on 29 September.

The third event, an evening meeting for the CEOs’ of top corporations and senior officials of the government will be held on 30 September.

The fourth event is the technical sessions for five days at CICRA that covers Certified Ethical Hacking (C|EH) training program. 

“Each of the aforesaid components has a different target audience that represent different tiers of ICT decisionmakers in the corporate/government ladder,” Dayaratne said.

“The main objective of this summit is to create awareness on the importance of Cyber Security and to provide top officers in the Government, top corporate management, IT professionals and technical infusion of the participants with the best practices in acquiring, implementing, managing and measuring information security postures of their organizations and countermeasures,” he said.

“The summit will also expose the latest flaws in information security that affect the global community including corporations and the governments. Discussions and presentations will revolve around some of the most malicious attacks and potential threats surrounding the security field,” he said.
