For any company the right licensing can make all the difference from enabling them to better utilise resources, to ensuring they have the right version of the right product and most importantly making considerable savings on licensing fees. With most licensing policies seeming complex and complicated – having a trusted licensing partner can make all the difference.

H One, with its strong technical team equipped with a broad understanding of licensing issues, has assumed this role in the market. As part of its service, H-One also conducts a strategic licensing and highly confidential licensing study for companies to ensure that they choose the right options for their current and future needs.

The firm recently  increased its efforts towards enlightening companies about their licensing options, when it teamed up with software giant Microsoft to host ‘Demystifying Microsoft Licensing’, a breakfast meeting attended by Chief Information Officers of over 30 leading companies.

H One CEO Samath Fernando presented on the right licensing options available to companies on various workloads within the wide portfolio of Microsoft products including Active Directory, Exchange, Lync and SharePoint.

During the event, an elite panel of licensing and technical specialists consisting of Anton Canisious (Microsoft), Ranil Silva (Microsoft), Harsha Randeny (Microsoft) and Shankar Chandrasegar (TechOne Global) fielded questions. The panel also examined several different licensing scenarios, including those relating to virtualisation.

The highly interactive nature of the session enabled the CIOs to discuss specific doubts and issues that each organisation faced.

“The importance of having the right licensing cannot be stressed enough – it helps companies proactively build a well-managed IT infrastructure that becomes a long-term strategic asset. Microsoft Sri Lanka and our partner, H-One are committed to working closely with our customers to ensure they choose the right licensing options for their company’s current needs and future growth aspirations,” said Anton Canisious, Solutions Specialist at Microsoft Sri Lanka.

Organised in response to calls from customers for greater clarity on how to choose licensing and best manage and leverage their technology investments, the event proved highly successful.

“The event provided me with valuable information which I can now put towards ensuring that the Group is able to access the latest productivity tools appropriately and cost-effectively. As a result, while we leverage existing investments, we would be able to reduce licensing management time and fulfil our compliance duties without ambiguities. I also gained greater clarity in areas such as integrated communications and virtualisation, which are key to the future growth and innovation of the organisation,” revealed Buddhika Senasekera, the Group IT Manager of Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited.
