The world’s largest technology company HP on Wednesday in Shanghai, China, showcased its unparalleled line of computers and printers, the first show of resolve for the newly-created HP Printing and Personal Systems Group.
Over 500 media influencers from around the world including the Daily FT gathered at the Shanghai Expo Centre to get a firsthand experience of the new products.
Numbering 80 new products and services, the range included:
• HP ENVY SpectreXT, an ultra mobile premium Ultrabook that delivers an overall premium experience with extraordinary design and performance;
• HP ENVY Sleekbooks and HP ENVY Ultrabook systems, providing the ultimate combination of style and substance for entertainment experiences;
• HP EliteBook Folio 9470m ,built from the ground up to be everything a business Ultrabook should be with security, manageability and reliability;
• HP t410 All-in-One Smart Zero Client, which features single-wire Power over Ethernet;
• HP Z220 Workstations and HP EliteBook Mobile Workstations with professional-class features;
• HP Officejet 150 Mobile All-in-One, the world’s first mobile all-in-one printer, and an ideal companion for business professionals who need a compact, durable solution for printing, scanning and copying while on the go; and
• Four new HP LaserJet printers and an HP Scanjet, providing small and medium businesses (SMBs) and enterprise customers professional-quality documents and fast print speeds, along with the ability to extend the office beyond its physical location.
“The products we unveiled today are inspired by our customers, and confirm our passion to fuse form, function, style and reliability into great computers and printers,” said Todd Bradley, Executive Vice President, Printing and Personal Systems, HP. “We are well positioned to continue delivering innovation in the future for customers in China and everywhere else around the globe.”
HP Printing & Personal Systems Vice President and Chief of Staff Steve Hoffman told the HP Global Influencer Summit 2012 at the Shanghai Expo Centre on Wednesday that HP remains committed to making technology work for customers and consumers. He said that unveiling of the new suite of solutions reinforces and expands this commitment.
“We are investing heavily on quality, reliability and value for our customers. In launching new products HP is driven by customer inspired innovations to drive cost and operational efficiency,” Hoffman told the opening ceremony.
He also said that new range of products was a result of best of breeds following the merger of HP’s printing and personal systems businesses.
“The newly-merged HP Printing and Personal Systems Group, announced 21 March, enables HP to rally more energy and resources in service to customers. The combined organisation enables greater investment in innovation and marketing, as well as streamlines HP’s collaboration with channel partners globally,” Hoffman said.
“Value of sales of the combined business is $ 65 billion. In terms of devices, it is 120 million or four devices per second,” he added.

Commenting on the suite of new business-driven PCs launched, HP’s Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Client Segment Dan Forlenza said: “Our business customers today are challenged not only with competitive and economic pressures, but also an onslaught of IT-based issues such as the consumerisation of IT and the management of exponential data growth.”
“With innovative, reliable hardware designs and predictive software technologies, these additions to HP’s award-winning commercial products portfolio make it easier for customers to keep their businesses running securely and efficiently,” he added.
HP also announced a further set of powerful business products packed with energy-efficiency, security and performance features designed to meet customer needs across industries such as healthcare, retail, and media and entertainment.
The flagship product in this segment is the powerful HP t410 All-in-One (AiO) Smart Zero Client, featuring new and innovative one-wire Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology while still providing outstanding multimedia performance and a true PC-like experience.
Others included The highly customisable HP RP7all-in-one retail system with a sleek and stylish design that fits into a variety of retail settings; The HP L6015tm and L6017tm Retail Touch Monitors with multi-touch-projected capacitive screens for retail and hospitality environments, and the HP L6010 non-touch Retail Monitor for use as a customer or associate-facing display; New high-performance HP Z220 Workstations and HP EliteBook Mobile Workstations, packed with reliable and professional-class features.
HP Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Solutions Business Unit Jim Zafarana said: “Our new high-performing business products allow our customers to get an exceptional user experience with better graphics and video performance, while still keeping operating costs low.”
As part of Imaging and Printing offerings to enhance efficiency for businesses of all sizes, HP unveiled new solutions, including the world’s first mobile all-in-one printer, enable businesses to better capture, connect and communicate information.
Fifteen new imaging and printing products, services and solutions provide enhanced productivity tools, new security solutions and expanded mobility offerings to enable businesses of all sizes to capture, connect and communicate more securely and efficiently.
The revolutionary world’s first mobile all-in-one printer HP Officejet 150 was described as an ideal companion for business professionals who need a compact, durable solution for printing, scanning and copying while on the go. It features built-in wireless Bluetooth for printing from select notebooks and smartphones and a long-lasting lithium-ion battery that provides enough power to print up to 500 pages on a full charge.
The HP Officejet 150 Mobile All-in-One is priced at $399 and is expected to begin shipping in June, HP said.
“HP is overhauling our entire line of multi function printers and today begins an onslaught of intelligent new web-enabled, cloud-enabled and solutions-enabled printing devices that meet the evolving business needs of our customers,” HP’s Senior Vice President and General Manager LaserJet and Enterprise Solutions Ron Coughlin told the media.
“By combining the strength of an innovative product portfolio, cloud capabilities, industry-leading management tools and a broad range of solutions, HP can meet the unique information management, workflow and printing needs of the smallest SMB up to the largest enterprise better than anyone else,” he added.
The launch of expanded range of its award-winning notebook portfolio with thin and light Ultrabook systems and Sleekbooks packed with the latest technologies for both consumer and business demands, demonstrates HP’s strategy of building on the success of its HP Folio13 and HP ENVY14 Spectre.
“We are offering the most comprehensive Ultrabook portfolio in the industry,” HP Printing and Personal Systems Senior Vice President James Mouton said. “Our expanded portfolio of HP Ultrabook systems and HP Sleekbooks for both consumers and businesses deliver uncompromised performance, quality and entertainment experiences within distinctive designs,” he added.
HP also unveiled HP Pavilion notebook PCs that include enhanced features and reflect the company’s new Mosaic design approach.
For stylish on-the-go computing, the HP Pavilion m6 is the ideal balance of mobility, performance and entertainment wrapped in a sleek, brushed silver aluminium design whilst the redesigned HP Pavilion dv-series and g-series notebook PCs offer performance in a simple yet distinct and colourful design.
The new HP Mosaic design approach, reflected in its new HP Pavilion notebooks, is an extension of the company’s MUSE (materials, usability, sensory appeal and experience) design philosophy.
“Featuring precise lines and tapered profiles, the new HP Pavilion notebook portfolio evokes dynamic energy and movement,” HP Vice President, Design, Personal Systems Group Stacy Wolff explained. “These notebooks utilise premium materials that are rich to the eye and to the touch, delivering unique sensory experiences,” he added.
