hSenid Business Solutions won an award at the prestigious National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) which was held recently at hotel Galadari, Colombo in the category of E-Government & Services.

By launching E-local government solutions, it is expected to increase comfort, convenience and welfare. This is a national important project and so far it has been the biggest project carried out in the local government and provincial councils in the island. 

The Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils is responsible for the management of Local Government Authorities (LGA). In order to do so the ministry has appointed a Local Government Assistant Commissioner per each district. Even through the local government machinery is in operation for ensuring proper service delivery due to the inefficiencies of this machinery is reported. Delay in issuance of permits and certificates, garbage collection, maintenance have been reported in many areas of the country. The ‘eLG project’ has been proposed to address these problems.

Ministry of Local Government requested ICTA’s support to transform the Local Authorities’ functions and to streamline the processes to better serve the citizens. The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and hSenid Business Solutions Ltd. embarked on a digital journey and developed a software of the eLocal Government (eLG) project. The project aims at making the service by local Government authorities people-friendly, effective and efficient through the use of ICT.

The project will help automate local authorities’ day to day activities. As the initial phase of the project, it will be launched for the direct services and this solution will reduce customer hanging time, long queues, increased security of data, easy retrieval of data, reduction in employee work loads and online payments.  

Currently the eLG is running, at Negombo Municipal Council, Seethawakapura Urban Council, and Homagama Pradeeseeya Saba. 

In addition ICTA is starting to work with Colombo Municipal Council, Kotte Municipal Council, Boralasgamuwa Urban Council and Kuliyapittiya Urban Council as well.
