Hutch appoints telecom veteran Nadarasakumar Nadarasa as CEO

Hutchison Asia Telecommunications Ltd., Hong Kong has announced the appointment of Nadarasakumar Nadarasa as the CEO of Hutch Sri Lanka with immediate effect.

Nadarasa is an industry veteran who has worked for Hutchison Telecom, Hong Kong for 14 years and another four years with Singapore Telecom.  He recently completed an assignment in the Middle East, deploying GSM networks into the Central African region.

Nadarasa is also no stranger to the telecom industry in Sri Lanka, as he also had the honour of being the CEO for five years (from 2002-2007) when he launched the Hutch GSM network in 2004. His efforts made Hutch a household name during the early stages of its GSM operation prior to his secondment to the Hutchison Telecom’s Vietnam operations.

Nadarasa has a degree in electronic engineering from Loughborough University, UK and two Masters in management science and telecommunications technology from Imperial College London and Aston University, Birmingham respectively. Nadarasa brings in a wealth of experience that spans over 20 years of exposure in the Asian and African region.

Nadarasa, commenting on this appointment, stated, “I am pleased to be returning to Hutch Sri Lanka again to lead it to the next chapter of its development.  Hutch has recently invested in one of the largest and most advanced 3G networks that already cover all 25 districts of Sri Lanka.
