With the celebrated Rugby World Cup just coming to an end and cricket still being a hot topic due to ongoing matches, Hutch organised a competition that was close to their customers’ hearts.
The sports-themed SMS competition, which saw island wide participation, resulted in two customers emerging as the lucky winners at the end of the programme.
The winner of the Hutch Cricket category was K.N.S. Seneweera, bagging over 13,400 points. Speaking about his win, Seneweera said that he was very happy to have won and considered it a generous reward for the SMSes he sent throughout the day and night. The elated winner also found it to be a fun and exciting competition.
Harshana Piyumal was the lucky winner in the Hutch Rugby World Cup competition, obtaining over 3,498 points. Still a student at Asoka Vidyalaya Maradana, Piyumal is studying for his Advanced Level examinations.
“It was the first time I’ve ever won anything like this. I am thrilled about it and hope Hutch continues to hold more competitions that we love to participate in.”
In addition to these customers, four winners were also chosen through the Hutch Facebook competition, namely Ahmad Farhan, Niranjanee Ranasinghe, Rehan Fernando and Thasmeem Mannan and received certificates and iPods from Hutch.
When awarded, they expressed their thorough delight at being part of the Hutch experience and winning the competition. Arul Vaz, Head of Hutch Value Added Services (VAS) and Roaming, awarded the winners’ prizes and certificates.
“Judging by the vast number of positive customer comments we have received so far, we have achieved a high level of customer engagement. We will continue with competitions that allow us to engage our customers to the Hutch experience, resulting in even more winners throughout the year,” Vaz said.
