The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) is to introduce a Cyber security system.
Computer users who have been victimised by unlawful acts when using Internet can inform SLCERT by sending an email to [email protected]. Also persons can seek the services of SLCERT by logging on to www.slcert.gov.lk, a spokesman to the SLCERT said.
He pointed out that SLCERT is providing services triggered by events that could have caused adverse effects on a constituent’s Cyber Systems such as Spam, Virus infections and unusual events detected by an Intrusion Detection System.
This service involves responding to a request or notification by a constituent that an unusual event has been detected, which may be affecting the performance, availability or stability of the services or cyber systems belonging to that constituent.
SLCERT will take steps to identify the incident and rate the severity of that incident. The constituent will then be advised on how to contain the incident and eradicate the cause. Once the systems are fully recovered, SLCERT will submit a comprehensive Incident Report detailing the nature of the incident, steps taken to recover from the incident and recommended preventive measures for the future.
