The High Commission of India, Colombo said recently that the Government of India has decided to hold Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2017 at DS Senanayake College, Colombo on 21 May, for admission of meritorious Sri Lankan students in prestigious IITs for the academic session 2017-18.
Sri Lankan students aspiring for IIT admission can apply online along with successful Indian students who have cleared IIT JEE (Main), a screening test from which Sri Lankan students are exempted. Online application for IIT JEE (Advanced) can be submitted from 28 April (Friday) to 2 May (Tuesday). Aspiring students who have cleared GCE ‘A’ level are advised to log on to www.jeeadv.ac.in andwww.jeeadv.ac.in/pdf/foreign.pdf for online submission of applications and further details in this regard.
The courses offered in 23 IITs in India include: Four-year Bachelor Degree (B.Tech, B.S., B.Pharm), five-year B.Arch, five-year Dual Degree-B.Tech-M.Tech, B.S.-M.S. and five-year Integrated Masters (M.Tech, M.Sc., M.Pharm).
The alumni of IITs include luminaries like Sundar Pichai (CEO Google) N.R. Narayana Murthy (Co-Founder and former Chairman, Infosys), Raghuram Rajan (former Governor of RBI) and Nandan Nilekani (Co-Founder Infosys).
