Info-V 2015 presents ICT awards in three categories

InfoV 2015, the premier ICT expo organised by Visakha Vidyalaya with the support of the Ministry of Education for the second consecutive year will be held on 3, 4 and 5 July at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo

Open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days, this exhibition will showcase student creativity, industry contributions and will also provide opportunities for the visitors to make purchases at unbelievable prices. The exhibition will feature innovations, entertainment, workshops and panel discussions, food stalls, prize draws and a host of other attractions. 



The INFO-V 2015 ICT Awards organised on the theme ‘Smart Destinations’,  aim at recognising and promoting outstanding and smart ICT inventions, thereby encouraging innovation and creativity while promoting ICT to the general public  with the intention of providing better and fast solutions in every field.



Driven by the Government’s vision of making IT affordable to all Sri Lankans and taking IT to village level, the Organising Committee of INFO-V 2015 has decided to conduct a National level ICT competition this year.

INFO-V 2015 ICT Awards are organised under three categories: The Student Category, The Teacher Category and an Open Category with a special award for ‘The Most Outstanding ICT Innovation’.



Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented in each of these categories. The competitions will be judged by a prominent panel of experts in the field. The INFO-V 2015 ICT Awards are accredited by National and International apex bodies related to the ICT field thereby presenting the winners with a highly valued recognition for their achievement.



Student Award: This category of awards is presented to school children under three categories. There will be a separate awards for Primary, Secondary and Senior students of all Sri Lankan state and private schools for Digital Art, 2D/3D animation and Games and ICT related exhibits. Any ICT project that is conducted by a student or a group of students from a state or private school comprising of any span of grades will be eligible for the award.



Teacher Award: This category of awards is presented to teachers/principals of schools or educational institutions in Sri Lanka, for the ‘most innovative ICT solution’ in the interest of education and training. Any software and/or hardware application that promotes a program/s to develop, administer, and support training, general knowledge, academic, technical, vocational skills and cultural attainment of individuals will be eligible for the award. The programs should cover those used in schools, pre-schools, child care centres, colleges, universities, teaching and learning institutions, vocational training centres and libraries.



Industry Award: This category covers a wider spectrum and is presented to an individual or an institution excluding students and teachers falling into above two categories. The award is for the ‘most innovative ICT solution’ that supports any industry in Sri Lanka. This will give special recognition to efforts taken by the individual/institution to provide process automated solutions with innovative customer centric solutions with the purpose of fulfilling the needs and gaps of the industry and society.

Evaluation Criteria: Innovativeness, demonstrated creativity and originality of idea 30%; Impact of the innovation 20%; Practicality of its application 20%; Measurability of the benefits 15%; Applicability 15%.
