Informatics International Ltd., (IIL) the leading software and international arm of the Informatics Group was recently awarded ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Management System certification following an audit conducted by DNV. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is an international standard that aims to bring information security under explicit management control. The standard requires that the management systematically examine the organisation’s information security risks, taking account of the threats, vulnerabilities and impacts. It also requires companies to design and implement a comprehensive suite of information security controls whilst adopting a management process to ensure that the information security controls continue to meet the company’s information security needs on an ongoing basis. IIL’s management system certification to ISO/IEC 27001:2005 demonstrates the effective implementation of documentation and records management, executive management commitment to customers, establishment of clear policy and an institutional commitment to continual improvement. Informatics Group Managing Director Hiran Wickramasinghe said that the ISO certification for IIL comes at a time when more organisations are seeking to consolidate IT vendors, in favour of a deeper relationship with a lead IT partner who can provide and manage a more complete portfolio of services. “We are delighted that IIL has been awarded ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification. This accreditation demonstrates our continual commitment to the effectiveness of our security,” he said. “In today’s digital age the security of customer, staff and business data is vital. In particular the emergence of cloud computing brings not only new opportunities but also creates a substantial challenge in data security. This latest ISO certification we have reached is an important milestone in the evolution of our security policies at IIL. The successful certification underlines our commitment to keeping information security at the top of everyone’s agenda across the organisation,” Informatics Group Director Hasith Wickramasinghe added. The audit to attain ISO/IEC 27001:2005 was conducted in consultation with KPMG and audited by DNV included a detailed assessment of the company.
