Informatics International wins Gold at NBQSA

In recognition for developing the most cutting-edge software solutions, Informatics International Limited (Informatics) once again bagged the Gold award under the E-Government and Services Category at the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) 2015 which recently concluded.

Informatics received this latest accolade for the product InfoID, which is an end-to-end software solution for the registration of persons. Informatics received this award for the most innovative nomination for developing ICT solutions that support electronic government initiatives and service delivery to the community. This award is given to solutions that enable transformation of internal and external government processes toward customer-centricity, providing service delivery opportunities to better fulfil the purposes of government to provide efficiency and effectiveness, as well as fairness and equitability.

The InfoID software solutions commenced operations for the Department of Registration of Persons (DRP), which is the sole authority involved in the registration of all Sri Lankan citizens and the issuing of the National Identity Cards. 

The implementation of InfoID has empowered the Department of Registration of Persons by the computerisation of all registration details and enabling the Department to share information with relevant government agencies through an online platform with ease. 

Commissioner General of Registration of Persons, R.M.S. Sarath Kumara said that changing of the manual paper based system that was being operated over the last 43 years into an automated system of registration of persons and issuance of the identity card, with Informatics as the solutions provider is a milestone of the department. 

“In the manual paper based system, there were many issues and shortcomings faced by the Department in ensuring the identity of a person accurately and it was an issue to the people when obtaining services from public and private institutions. With the automation of the key functions of the DRP, it is now able to issue the current Identity Card with printing of information in Sinhala and Tamil languages in an efficient and effective way,” the Commissioner General said.
