(ISC)2 Sri Lanka Chapter  signs Official Training Partner agreement with (ISC)2 at inaugural CIO fo

(ISC)2 Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan chapter of the world’s largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP certification,  conducted the Inaugural CIO Forum at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo on 13 December, 2013. Held for the very first time in a South Asian country, the forum focused on Information Security: Beyond  Policies and Latest Security Trends. Commenting on this special occasion Sri Lanka - CERT CEO Lal Dias stated: “Many corporates consider information security a cost and it is common for information security policies to be limited to only documents. Our objective is to encourage corporates to focus on their policies in a more practical manner because a breach of information security can be an irrevocable cost.” The CIO Forum brought together Sri Lankan CIOs from diverse industry verticals for an evening of insightful discussions together with (ISC)2 Executive Director Hord Tipton. (ISC)2  Srilanka Chapter President Wasantha Perera stated: “It is a privilege to be able to host the inaugural (ISC)2 CIO forum in Sri Lanka with Mr. Tipton, and we are glad to make this an opportunity to demonstrate the commitment from the highest level at (ISC)2  for the development and continued support to the local chapter.” In his address at the forum, Tipton explained the importance of information security for the present corporate world also focusing on the business aspect of the function. He further elucidated on the importance of senior management representation for driving Info-Sec strategies for an organisation. (ISC)2 Sri Lanka also signed an agreement with (ISC)2 to become an Official Training Provider (OTP) to assist security professionals and practitioners in obtaining the “Gold Standard” in information security certification through official CBK (Common Body of Knowledge) Review Seminar with the most up-to-date and relevant content. By becoming an (ISC)² Official Training Provider, (ISC)2  Sri Lanka Chapter joined a global network of authorised organisations committed to delivering the highest educational standard in cyber security training. The (ISC)2 CIO forum was conducted for a strong gathering of IT professionals and top level company officials represents government, defence, Telco, IT advisory, software development and the banking sector. In Early 2012 the (ISC)2  Colombo chapter was officially registered with (ISC)2 and became a recognised entity in official (ISC)2 Chapter Directory. The chapter was formed with the objective of disseminating knowledge and providing a common forum for the information security professionals of Sri Lanka, the (ISC)2 credential holders, the public, as well as in encouraging its Information Security Certifications.
