The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) has joined hands with the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL) in a move to develop IT savvy corporate leaders and IT professionals with good management skills. With a view to improve the IT skills of the managers, the ICT infrastructure of the organisations and the leadership skills of the ICT professionals, the President of the CSSL Ajith Salgado and the President of IMSL Anver Dole signed a MOU at the CCSL secretariat last week. Together the organisations will work towards a mutual goal of developing productivity using emerging ICT technologies and management practices and would be holding joint educational events and workshops. The two organisations would work hand-in-hand to develop a model for describing and managing ICT competencies of professionals in the country. The CSSL is already collaborating with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) in using the globally recognised framework called Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) as a certification method for the ICT proficiency of professionals. President of the CSSL Ajith Salgado noted that the IMSL members would be able to deliver a better streamlined management service with the backing of ICT knowledge while the President of IMSL Anver Dole was confident that the collaboration between the two organisations would empower the managers as well as the ICT professionals for a fruitful future. CSSL is a member of IFIP – International Federation for Information Processing and represents Sri Lanka in the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC).  CSSL is also the organiser of the National IT conference scheduled to be inaugurated on 25 August at the BMICH under the theme ‘ICT for Inclusive Development’. Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL) is the professional body of professional managers in Sri Lanka and represents the country at the Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO) as a full member. Incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 67 on 17 December 1988, it has been a path breaker in enhancing the skills of the professional managers since 1986. The event was also attended by CSSL Secretary Yasas V. Abeywickrama, Treasurer Luxaman Perera, Assistant Secretary Dr. Malitha Wijesundara and IMSL Secretary Saroj Lamahewa.
