IT/BPM industry leads in people practices: Bags 6 out of 26 HR awards

HRM Awards, the recognised benchmark for industry best practices in Human Resources organised by The Association of Human Resource Professionals (HRP) was held on 6 March for the sixth consecutive year. The HRM Awards aim to provide a platform for public and private sector companies in Sri Lanka to evaluate the effectiveness of their HRM practices against internationally accepted guidelines. The HRM Awards this year featured 10 Gold Awards, 10 Silver Awards and six special category awards to the private sector. The HRM Award is considered as the benchmark for industry best practices for Human Resource Practices in Sri Lanka. The IT and Business Process Management industry (BPM) was highlighted at this year’s awards night as they achieved awards in all three categories. Virtusa, 99X Technology and Dialog Axiata were among the Gold award winners. Two Silver Awards were achieved by HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka and WNS Global Services. The category award for Building Capabilities was won by Dialog Axiata. The industry boasts of employee-centric workplaces where ethical, value driven environments conducive for career advancement and creativity are prevalent. These organisations have been recognised by local and global bodies for excellence in HR practices fostering efficiency, leadership and innovation. The industry is also known for pioneering initiatives that have bridged the communication gap between schools, universities, professional higher education institutes and employers such as ‘future careers’ – a capacity building project where awareness on IT and Business process management industry career potential in the wake of changing technology is created.
