Jayantha De Silva appointed as SLASSCOM Chairman

Jayantha De Silva, the President and CEO of IFS Sri Lanka, was appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) at the Annual General Meeting held last week. SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies) is the national chamber for IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka. De Silva was also appointed as a Board Member for the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) just recently. ICTA is the single apex body involved in ICT policy and direction for the nation. With the appointment as Chairman of SLASSCOM, De Silva disclosed his focus and ideas with the aim of enhancing and seeing through the vision of SLASSCOM for the IT and BPM industry of Sri Lanka. “Conceptual designing, agileness and adaptability to circumstances are key areas that matters a lot and we in Sri Lanka are very good on that. I can proudly state that Sri Lanka is abundant in youth with a firm focus in the field and we need to further enhance their knack of adaptability for future needs. Today, SLASSCOM has managed to transform the IT and BPM industry from an informal stature to a more matured standing. SLASSCOM will be working closely with ICTA as well as all other stakeholders and bring to their awareness and thinking the significance of embracing IT and business processes, even more specifically with the remarkable growth inclination of 238% of total revenue since 2007 that the industry had witnessed.” De Silva holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Systems from the University of Washington D.C.  He is also a Fellow of BCS, Chartered IT Practitioner (CITP), Member of NCED, was Past Chairman of BCS, Past Chairman of Software Export Association Sri Lanka (SEA) and Past Memberof University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).  He was awarded the Most Outstanding Contribution Award by BCS at NBQSA (National Best Quality Software Awards) 2011. SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies) is the national chamber for IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka. SLASSCOM acts as the catalyst of growth for the Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouragement of research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework.
