LankaPay sponsors Startup Pavilion at INFOTEL 2016 to foster disruptive technology

LankaPay – Sri Lanka’s national payment network operated by LankaClear Ltd. under the guidance and supervision of the Central Bank is proud to be the sponsor of the ‘Startup Pavilion’ at the INFOTEL 2016, scheduled to be held from 11-13 November at BMICH. Organised by the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) for the 15th consecutive year, INFOTEL is the largest national IT exhibition that attracts over 100,000 participants every year. 

‘Start-Up Pavilion’ is one exciting segment of the exhibition, which is dedicated to the startup companies - an initiative backed by EDB, ICTA and few other private sector partners. This year 147 start-up companies will showcase their products / solutions and LankaPay has come forward to be the sponsor of this special segment, thereby providing a further boost to this noteworthy initiative

LankaClear is planning to unveil its newest initiative to facilitate retail payments powered by its revolutionary real time fund transfer network – LankaPay Common Electronic Fund Transfer Switch (CEFTS) at INFOTEL 2016. The company intend to demonstrate some of the most disruptive payment solutions targeting retail payments in partnership with LankaPay CEFTS members and some of the most innovative application developers in the country. There will also be interactive competitions and exciting activities at the LankaPay stall, which will be both educational and interesting, giving the participants opportunity to enhance their knowledge and win exciting gifts.

INFOTEL Main Organising Committee Chairman Sudath Amarasinghe said that this will serve as a bridge and offer a viable window of opportunity to Sri Lankan companies in the ICT sphere to explore possibilities of securing global markets for their products and services.  This can also be viewed as a good opportunity for local players in the industry to seek foreign investments to develop their businesses, he noted. Further, he said that arrangements to host the proposed exhibition have already got underway and further support and patronage from more government and private sector institutions is being anticipated to contribute towards the greater success of INFOTEL–2016.

FITIS played a lead role in organising INFOTEL – 2016 with the active support and patronage of a host of government and private sector institutions. The Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training are the government organisations, which extend their support to this biggest annual event in Sri Lanka’s ICT calendar.
