The who’s who of the IT industry gathered at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo when Microsoft Sri Lanka celebrated their Partners at the 2014 Partner Awards held last week. The annual event took on a new theme this year, ‘Mobile First – Cloud First’, where Michelle Simmons, Microsoft’s GM South East Asia New Markets, addressed the gathering on the company’s new direction. She said that the company’s new mission was centred around persons, allowing them to do more and that was a big step forward, where partners can play an active role. The partner conference, a platform to bring together and recognise the contribution, dedication and commitment shown by Microsoft Sri Lanka’s partner network, ended with sixteen special awards won by well-known names in the industry, who engaged with the software company under different partner categories. Imran Vilcassim, Country Manager for Microsoft Sri Lanka who congratulated all the winners reiterated their importance for the company’s success and said that Microsoft Sri Lanka celebrated many regional successes in the past year and at the centre of that success were their partners. “Mobile and Cloud Technology is changing the world and today the world is moving in that new direction.  We as a Company are engaged in giving people a real digital experience.  From a partner perspective here in Sri Lanka and around the world we see that our Cloud partners are profiting more from Microsoft than our traditional partners. “We are also making some great devices on the mobile platform through our partnership with Nokia.  I am excited that you as our partners are embracing these changes with us as we step into a new world. We have done some great work in both the private and public sectors and will continue to invest on level with our vision for this country. Microsoft might be a multinational corporation but in Sri Lanka we are a local company and we have some great plans for you our partners in FY15,” he said.
