The inauguration ceremony was held at the CPSTL Kolonnawa installation premises recently, under the patronage of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. Chairman/MD Major General M.R.W. De Zoysa and Mobitel Ltd. Enterprise Business Development Chief Officer Manju Fernando.
Petroleum retailers and consumers island-wide will be notified via a system-generated SMS message. The SMS will carry invoice, product and vehicle exit details. The pilot project will act as a catalyst for the necessary R&D for the expansion of SMS-related services to customers such as accepting sales orders, providing dealers/consumers with broadcast messages, introducing new products and a facility to make complaints via SMS.
Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd is responsible for approximately 95% of the country’s petroleum deliveries including aviation fuel. In a groundbreaking move, CPSTL implemented a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning system (SAP IS-OIL) in Sri Lanka back in 2010.
CPSTL is currently serving more than 500 SAP users scattered around 27 plants island-wide, belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Lanka Indian Oil Plc and CPSTL.
Major De Zoysa stated that CPSTL’s objective is to provide a better service for its customers, while contributing to the Government‘s e-governance initiative, which is to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to assist the Government in the efficient and meaningful delivery of an essential service to the country. He added that CPSTL is now exploring innovative avenues and approaches to improve customer relationships by providing real-time information to customers with the support of SAP end users, IT staff and the CPSTL management.
