National Best Quality Software Awards

NBQSA is the national awards ceremony recognising the best software products in Sri Lanka organised by the Sri Lankan section of the BCS, the Chartered Institute of IT. The NBQSA competition is open to organisations, groups and individuals in Sri Lanka for locally designed and developed ICT products. NBQSA 2014 was held on 17 October. The objectives of the NBQSA are: To provide recognition to the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in Sri Lanka that have contributed to the development of ICT, to create a window to gain international recognition for locally-developed ICT products and to improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services to be able to compete in the international marketplace. The event has been conducted since 1998 under several categories to recognise achievements and contributions to ICT in Sri Lanka. Winners of each category represent Sri Lanka at APICTA. The competition was held under the following categories: Tools and Infrastructure Applications, Security, Financial Applications, Industrial Applications, Healthcare, Communications Applications, Media and Entertainment, Tourism and Hospitality, General Applications, Research and Development, Secondary Student Project, Tertiary Student Project, Education and Training, E -Government and Services, E-Logistics and Supply Chain Management, E-Inclusion and E-Community, Start-Up and In-house Application. Besides these categories there were special awards such as the Most Outstanding Achievement Award and the Public Sector Most Outstanding ICT Achievement Award, both initiated by the ICTA.
