Additionally, with the new Nokia Digital Camera Lenses, the Lumia WP8 devices have changed the way you capture moments altogether. Coupled with the hardware capabilities of the new Nokia Lumia phones, these software solutions viz., Smart Shoot, Cinemagraph, etc., set the Lumia apart from the competition out there.

Nokia has also pioneered the concept of wireless charging with the latest Nokia Lumia WP8 devices. While the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 are the world’s first ever smartphones to come with this feature, Nokia has also introduced a host of wireless charging accessories to help consumers keep their batteries topped up at all times.

Reflecting that the mobile industry has today shifted from a battle of devices to a war of ecosystems, he stated that Nokia has made significant headway in bringing the youngest ecosystem together with Microsoft creating new opportunities for partners and developers, while delivering the most innovative smartphone to consumers.

Speaking on partnering operators, he detailed that the company is working with the top three mobile operators – Dialog, Mobitel and Etisalat – to bring alive the Nokia Lumia WP8 device experience by offering free 3G data packages for a year on all three Nokia Lumia devices.

The 3G data offerings from the partners will allow Sri Lankan consumers to experience the truly online and social capabilities of the Lumia WP8 smartphones, allowing users to have access to multiple forms of digital content and entertainment services free of cost for a full year.

“We believe the Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620 will help push data consumption amongst consumers to a new level compared to what has been witnessed traditionally, creating an ecosystem that benefits all,” he expressed. “We believe that the Nokia Lumia WP8 range will set new benchmarks in smartphone experience and position Nokia strongly to consolidate its leadership position in the market.”

Nokia Lumia 920 is Nokia’s flagship WP8 device and is known as the world’s most innovative smartphone. Nokia Lumia 820 is as a stylish, mid-range Windows Phone 8 smartphone device that delivers high end performance in a compact package. Nokia Lumia 620 on the other hand is the perfect introduction to a Windows Phone aimed at a more youthful audience.

“The Nokia Lumia range is about being different, being bold and adventurous,” Mehrotra commented. Speaking about the vibrant colours which have been acknowledged as being part of Lumia essence, he noted that the bold colours add to the lifestyle element of the product and act as an extension of the user’s personality.

In a more global context, Mehrotra remarked that 10 new Nokia Lumia models have been introduced to the market in approximately 16 months recording a shipping volume of close to 20 million units of Nokia Lumia products as of March 2013 since their launch

Each of these devices has been extremely well received by consumers, reviewers and analysts, he said. The Nokia Lumia smartphone family with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system is said to have out-shipped Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Android family in the first three quarters after their respective commercial launches.

The Nokia Lumia WP8 devices have also catapulted Windows Phone into the high-end smartphone battle. As recorded in net market share, Windows Phone was the fastest growing OS of 2012 with a 290% growth.
