Open Source Forum Sri Lanka 2014 to feature top panel

To discuss ‘SL as a Technology Destination’ Sri Lanka’s status as a technology destination will be much explored on 4 March 2014 with a top panel discussion scheduled to take place at the first ever enterprise forum in the country, The Open Source Forum Sri Lanka 2014, which is all set to kickoff next week in Colombo, aims at shedding light on the urgent need of enabling technology services centred on the strengths and capabilities of the nation’s technical resources. At a session titled ‘Sri Lanka as a Technology Destination’, the topic will be addressed in detail by top industry experts who are representatives from international technology principle organisations. Featuring five eminent speakers at the panel discussion, viewpoints in this regard will be shared by Oracle Global Leader Channel and Embedded Oracle Virtualization and Linux Mickey Bharat, Amazon Web Services Head of Partners and Alliances organisation India and SAARC region Vivek Gupta, Virtusa Head of Digital, SVP & GM Madu Ratnayake, TWCorp Chairman and CEO Thilan Wijesinghe, and ICT Agency Sri Lanka CEO Reshan Dewapura. The forum which will discuss latest trends in open source technology will feature as key note speaker Mickey Bharath who will address the topic ‘CIO’s Journey from Data Centre to Cloud. Closed Source vs. Open Source’. Meanwhile, technical presentations will be delivered by Amazon Web Services Head Partners and Alliances Gupta and Oracle Linux Senior Channels Manager Amit Jain who will speak on ‘Cloud Computing and Democratisation of IT, and ‘Linux for the Enterprise-Fast, Modern, Reliable’. Organised by Global Events and Convention Services together with FOSSMART, the objective of the forum is to discuss areas such as maximising the value of big data, cloud computing, virtualisation, content management systems, and business intelligence through the adaptation of open source to bring affordability, control, and openness. The event is expected to bring together about 150 of the top C-Level executive from Sri Lanka’s business and Government sectors.
