Oracle OpenWorld 2015 kicks off in San Francisco

Five-day event drawing 60,000 people to showcase the ultimate cloud experience, innovation, collaboration, discovery

The Oracle OpenWorld 2015 kicked off on Sunday in San Francisco, heralding a unique opportunity to 60,000 people from over 140 countries to experience and learn about the ultimate cloud experience.

The five-day event takes place at 18 locations throughout downtown San Francisco with the Moscone Center serving as its epicentre.

Oracle OpenWorld is the industry’s preeminent business and technology show featuring over 2,500 sessions, 3,000 speakers, and more than 400 Oracle demos, as well as partner and customer exhibitions.

On Sunday Oracle Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison kicked off the mainstage keynote presentations and conversations.

He unveiled a broad set of innovative solutions to expand Oracle Cloud, the world’s most comprehensive enterprise cloud portfolio and the only truly integrated cloud stack.

Throughout the week, he and other top Oracle executives, including Oracle CEO Mark Hurd and Oracle President of Product Development Thomas Kurian, will take the stage alongside some of the most powerful names in business.

Some of the Sessions include focus on Big Data, Cloud, Marketing, Sales, Service, Commerce, Engineered Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), Industries, Mobile, Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), and Supply Chain Management (SCM).

Keynotes include inspiring talks on the future of the enterprise from Oracle’s leadership team, as well as change agents from top customers and partners.

Among them are Intel Chief Executive Officer Brian M. Krzanich, Infosys Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Dr. Vishal Sikka, and Wipro Group President and Chief Operating Officer Abidali Z. Neemuchwala.

The event also enables participants to experience Oracle Applications Cloud.

Concurrently JavaOne2015 will also take place 25-29 October in San Francisco. Java serves as the critical backbone of software solutions that touch both our professional and personal lives. From modernisation in enterprise big data, cloud, and the Internet of Things, Java continues to help drive developer innovation, revolutionise application development, and improve enterprise services.

JavaOne 2015 includes more than 400 technical sessions and more than 60 exhibitors. The conference is organised into eight learning tracks, which include 1) Core Java Platform, 2) Java and Security, 3) Emerging Languages, 4) Java, DevOps and the Cloud, 5) Java and the Internet of Things, 6) Java and Server-Side Development, 7) Java Clients and User Interfaces, and 8) Java Development Tools and Agile Techniques.

This year’s opening Java keynote celebrated the Java 20th anniversary by reflecting on past technology investments, highlighting current technical insights and innovations, and showcasing future direction and roadmaps.

Java engineering executives from Oracle and industry luminaries will explain ways developers can continue creating the future with Java. Keynote presenters include: Georges Saab, Vice President, Java Platform Group, Oracle; Mark Reinhold, Chief Architect, Java Platform Group, Oracle and Michael Greene, Vice President and General Manager, System Technologies and Optimization, Software and Services Group, Intel.

Greene will speak on “Accelerating Java for a Connected World” in which he will discuss how optimised Java is a key ingredient in solutions spanning from edge to data centre. Greene will show the benefits of Intel’s software optimisation efforts and unique relationships with key industry players, including Oracle, as well as how developers can leverage these to build amazing solutions.

The Java Community keynote celebrates the thriving global ecosystem of Java developers and enthusiasts, including more than 315 Java User Groups. This keynote will pay homage to the vibrant 20-year history of Java, along with showcasing several Java community luminaries and their body of work through innovative onstage demos. The Java community’s passion is an inspiration to all developers and is one of the most important elements of creating the future with Java.

Keynote presenters include: Stephen Chin, Lead Java Community Manager, Oracle and John Duimovich, Java CTO and IBM Distinguished Engineer.
