Orel Corporation, owner of the popular Orange Electric brand under which the company manufactures world class electrical and lighting products, recently moved to the cloud in order to further streamline their operations. The company, which is currently on a large scale overseas expansion program in both their electrical and telecom sectors, entered into an enterprise agreement with Microsoft Sri Lanka, who would deploy their cloud solution MicrosoftOffice 365, providing them with proven programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Lync online. The agreement was formalised by Orel Corporation Managing Director Kushan Kodituwakku and Microsoft Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Head Imran Vilcassim who affixed their signatures to the agreement. Prior to this, Orel Corporation who has large scale manufacturing as well as Research and Development divisions, was using original software on an on ground premise provided by another software company. However, given the Group’s advancing needs, they made the decision to migrate to Microsoft Office365 not only because it is a cloud based solution but also due to the total solutions package, which the software giant offers, that is in line with their business needs. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Kodituwakku confirmed that one of the main reasons for their decision to migrate was the freedom and flexibility Microsoft Office365 seemed to provide. “Orel Corporation would soon experience a global expansion and initially, three countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and South East Asia will be our base locations. Therefore services such as Lync online, which is an integrated feature of Microsoft Office365, would provide a virtual platform for us to make visual communication with our partners across the world easy.” Orel Corporation envisions that Microsoft office 365 will pave the way for them to have a more efficient, productive and secure office by allowing employees to access information first hand, according to their needs, which was possible earlier only through the IT department. “This means that the employees at all levels will be looking at information in different dimensions which expect will bring about a drastic change to our strategies.” Vilcassim reiterated that Microsoft Office 365 would enable Companies Like Orel Corporation to accelerate innovation and do more with existing infrastructure. Microsoft Large Account Reseller Tech One Global Limited and cloud services partner Open Systems Integrators Ltd is driving the deployments and building the future proof cloud solution for Orel Corporation.
