Phoenix partners PwC to achieve excellence through ERP solutions

Phoenix Industries Ltd., the country’s leading and largest plastic manufacturing company joined hands with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for the implementation of their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solution, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. PwC Sri Lanka, partnering with Microsoft, has been successful in implementing ERP solutions over the years, with the expertise of well qualified, multi-skilled professionals who have vast experience in diverse industries. PwC being a global player, spanning five continents with an international presence in 158 countries; has the experience, technical knowledge and informed points of view, which brings value to the clients by combining the local presence with the international expertise and knowledge base to improve performance and achieve visions through technology which is an important enabler of business transformation. Phoenix, being accustomed with the previous version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, manages a complex production and distribution process which has been the foundation of its growth in terms of sales and profitability. The implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 was focused in further streamlining the business operations and financial management processes. Rapid adaptability, increased control, online business capabilities, better visibility and ease of use offered by Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 were considered key in the ERP journey. The implementation was focused on the modular areas of finance management, sales and marketing, purchasing, warehousing and manufacturing. The project was carried out based on the PricewaterhouseCoopers proprietary ‘Transform’ methodology. Transform was used to assess the current state, design the future state, construct the system design, implement the solution and maintain the solution through continuous review. During the implementation, processes were re-engineered with inputs from PricewaterhouseCoopers knowledge repositories to embrace the standard industry practices followed around the world. The Enterprise Resource Planning solution was implemented in its vanilla state whilst catering to the business requirement through workarounds and process reengineering to allow Phoenix to seamlessly adopt future product upgrades. With the implementation, Phoenix has been able to streamline and automate processes with new efficiencies, obtain accurate and reliable management information on-time for better decision making, standardise documents and transaction processing across departments and improve worker efficiency; whilst adding long term value to the business.
