PickMe, Sri Lanka’s very own start up mobile taxi hailing service provider was honoured with the mBillionth award by the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF). DEF an organisation empowering people at the edge of information through last mile connectivity, digital literacy and digital interventions, awarded PickMe for their commitment towards uplifting the community through innovative IT projects.
The prestigious mBillionth award recognises excellence in mobile innovations and development in the South Asian region and PickMe was amongst the top winners in the category of mobile and telecom market penetration and innovation. Several organisations from across the region were recognised under different categories and PickMe also emerged the winner under the category of Smart settlements and urbanisation.
PickMe, which commenced operations last year has made tremendous progress during the year, becoming the top mobile taxi hailing service in the country within such a short period. The company, which provides sustainable services to its drivers and customers, has taken taxi-hailing services to the next level, providing proven reliable and efficient service at the right time.
