Reconciliation through technology and research

The Ministry of Technology and Research (MoTR), under the guidance of Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the Minister of Technology and Research, conducted the ‘Reconciliation through Technology and Research’ initiative on 10 and 11 December 2012 at the Open University of Sri Lanka – Jaffna Regional Centre.

The exhibition was declared open on Monday, 10 December by the Secretary to the Ministry Dhara Wijetilleka.

Industrialists, manufacturers and the general public were present at the inauguration. The institutions under the preview of the Ministry were able to establish new tie-ups with the industry representatives of the area while promoting closer collaboration between them.

Several technology transfer workshops were held during the two days where key research findings in respect of technologies that can be transferred to industry partners, use of alternative energy sources, and intellectual property rights and services that contribute to sustaining quality of industry products, were presented. Some of these technologies included cost effective building technologies, food safety measures and palmyrah extraction technologies.
