RIM announces Blackberry Bold 9780

The new Bold 9780 is the latest addition to the Blackberry family of smartphones.

It features a compact and stylish design with a focus on the latest features and stellar performance.

The new Blackberry Bold 9780 supports 3G networks around the world and includes Wi-Fi and GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging.

Its built in 5MP camera is capable of continuous auto focus, scene modes, image stabilisation, flash and video recording. The Bold 9780 also has 512MB onboard flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32GB of additional storage.

It will be the first Blackberry Bold to come with the new BlackBerry 6 operating system which is a refresh of the previous OS, now integrated with a WebKit browser capable of rendering HTML web pages quicker than its predecessor. Navigation is managed by the optical trackpad and the browser can open multiple sites with an embedded tab feature.

Blackberry 6 is also said to improve messaging capabilities with integrated RSS feeds, access to BBM (Blackberry Messenger), Facebook, Twitter and other instant messaging apps.

The smartphone also features a dedicated YouTube app and a ‘Universal search’ feature.
