Based on the 4th quarter results of the Sri Lanka Mobile Handsets Market Review published by Cyber Media Research, Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC is considered to be the No. 1 marketer of smartphones in Sri Lanka. CyberMedia Research stated that ‘smartphone sales (shipments) touched 120,000 units in Sri Lanka during 4Q 2013 and 450,000 for CY 2013. During 4Q 2013 Samsung was the leader in the smartphones segment with a 21.2% share followed by Huawei with 19.6%.’ In comparison to the market research conducted by CyberMedia in the 3rd quarter, Huawei’s popularity has increased by 4.1% between the two quarters. Considering that all Huawei-branded smart phones are marketed by Singer and that Singer also markets a portion of Samsung-branded smartphones as well as all the Intex-branded smartphones, it has been estimated that Singer is the No. 1 marketer of smartphones in Sri Lanka.  Singer’s journey to becoming the No. 1 marketer of Smartphones in Sri Lanka was greatly powered by the Company’s partnership with Huawei. Huawei was able to move swiftly up the ranks to become the second largest-selling smartphone in Sri Lanka due to its partnership with Singer, where Huawei’s latest smartphone technology was distributed at an affordable price through Singer’s extensive retail and dealer network backed by excellent after-sales services. Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider originating from China. Huawei’s products and services are deployed in over 140 countries, serving more than one third of the world’s population. Huawei has also setup more than 20 R&D centres around the world in countries such as the United States, Germany, Sweden, Russia, India and China. Consumer business is one of Huawei’s three business groups offering a range of products that include mobile phones, mobile broadband devices, home devices, clouds and consumer chip-sets. Singer has always taken cues from its customers with whom a bond of trusted excellence continues to hold past 165 years. Such values were the reason why Singer absorbed customer-focused brands such as Huawei, Samsung and Intex into its portfolio. Providing technological leadership to its customers is a feature that is common among Singer and its portfolio of global brands. Singer distributes Samsung, Huawei and Intex smartphones with warranties through an island-wide network which consists of over 410 retail outlets, 1200 digital dealer shops, 10 regional service centres and over 150 service agents.
