Singer-Huawei partnership takes Huawei to 2nd position in smartphones

The Singer-Huawei partnership that was formed in June 2012 has resulted in Huawei becoming the 2nd largest selling smartphone brand in Sri Lanka, occupying 15.5% of the total market share. This was reported in the Sri Lanka Mobile Handsets Market Review for the 3rd financial quarter published by premier IT, Telecoms, Semiconductor, Electronics, Infrastructure and Life Sciences market intelligence and advisory firm CyberMedia Research (CMR). Singer markets Huawei through Singer Mega, Singer Plus and SISIL World stores that make up the country’s largest retail network, comprised of over 400 retail outlets and Singer’s digital media channel that serves 1000 digital media outlets across the country. Singer distributes Huawei smartphones to meet an increasing demand for technologically advanced yet reasonably priced smartphones in Sri Lanka. On the back of the successful marketing efforts of Huawei, a Singer spokesperson stated that Singer has progressed to become the No. 2 marketer of smartphones in the country. Singer is reputed for making advanced and user-friendly technology available to millions of Sri Lankans. Commenting on the results, Faisal Kawoosa, Lead Analyst, CMR Telecoms Practice said, ‘the Sri Lanka mobile handset market is showing a marked preference for smartphones versus feature phones that is even higher than the market in India.’ From the total demand for smartphones in Sri Lanka, 96% of it is for Android-powered smartphones, among which Hauwei is the second largest contributor. Android technology that powers Huawei smartphones is the most dominant smartphone operating system in the world, occupying 81.9% of the market. Global telecommunications specialist Huawei Investment & Holding Co. Ltd. is ranked among the world’s best smartphone manufacturers, having spearheaded customer-focused innovations. Huawei is poised to dominate the smartphone industry by increasing investments made towards product design and improvements to software and user experience. A fascinating range of Huawei smartphones with warranties are available through Singer’s island-wide retail and dealer network that is also backed by 10 regional service centres and over 150 service agents. Having recently received the coveted award ‘Category Award Winner of Customer Relations’ at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Singer continues to deliver on its promise of ‘trusted excellence’. Singer was also placed among Sri Lanka’s Ten Best Corporate Citizens.
