Singer launches the cutting-edge smartphone by Huawei

By Sarah Hannan Singer Sri Lanka, the country’s number one brand and the national distributor for Huawei, unveiled the stunning Huawei Ascend P6 at Galadari, Colombo on Monday 28 October. The product launch was attended by Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs Karunaratne Amunugama, Sri Lanka Customs Director General Jagath P. Wijeweera, Jayantha Wickramasinghe, Huawei Technologies Lanka Ltd CEO Daniel Sunhuaqing, Singer Sri Lanka PLC Group CEO Asoka Pieris, Singer Sri Lanka PLC’s regional sales and marketing teams and distributors. Fantastic tie-up Welcoming the gathering Singer Sri Lanka PLC Commercial and Marketing Director Mahesh Wijewardena said: “The partnership between Singer and Huawei has been a fantastic tie-up which in return has made Singer the fastest growing mobile phone service provider in the country. It is a great marriage that produces the best of mobile phone services and technologies to our consumers. Among the many technologically advanced mobile devices the mobile phone has penetrated the households of Sri Lanka at the most and today Huawei and Singer will turn a new chapter with the Huawei Ascend P6 launch.” Speaking at the launch, Singer Sri Lanka PLC Group CEO Asoka Pieris said: “Huawei Ascend P6 has been launched in parts of Europe, America and some parts of Asia and today it is being launched in Sri Lanka. Today’s younger generation are surprised to learn that we grew up without mobile phones and they question us as to how we managed in the past without using mobile phones. Looking back we too are amazed as to how we managed without being contactable at all times and as to how organised we were at that time. “In future they would question as to how we managed without smartphones to keep up with the busy schedules. Smartphones have developed in leaps and bound within the last years and Sri Lanka is turning out to become the hub for technology in the South Asian region. Today’s launch of Huawei Ascend P6 will therefore mark the launch for the whole South Asian region. “As a company, the sale of mobile phones and devices have reached 1900% over the last year and is only second to the domestic sewing machines Singer markets. I thank Huawei for introducing the 3rd best smartphone in the world to Sri Lanka and for selecting Sri Lanka to launch the slimmest smartphone in the world.” Inspired by book pages Huawei Technologies Lanka Ltd CEO Daniel Sunhuaqingsaid: “The plan to launch Huawei phones in Sri Lanka under our own brand was approved three years ago. We have spent the intervening period studying the market and the culture and are ready for the Sri Lanka consumer. “As a company providing attractive products and being a leading ICT provider Huawei serves more than 1/3 of the world population. In 2013 Huawei marked a turning point by becoming the leading provider for smartphones in Sri Lanka with the assistance of Singer Sri Lanka PLC.” He further stated that the design concept of the Huawei Ascend P6 was inspired by the pages of a book projecting the ultimate expression of beauty. Being the slimmest phone in the world at 6.18 mm and 118g weight the phone expresses the superior technology that has gone in to it during the manufacturing process. Wrapping up the event Singer Sri Lanka PLC Brand Manager Mobile Phones and Digital Media Sahan Perera illustrated the key features of the smartphone giving insights of the design, usability and stated that this product has ‘Elegance with Edge’.
