Singer partners with CityGuide

Recognised for introducing essential and superlative products to the local market, Singer is now the new marketer and distributor for the CityGuide GPS Navigation System in Sri Lanka.

The system was developed by CityGuide and Myriad Digital. The product is available across the country in Singer Mega, Singer Plus and SisilWorld stores for vehicle owners to experience the fantastic benefits and value of a GPS navigation system.

The CityGuide GPS Navigation System is accessible by purchasing a Portable Navigation Device (PND) from Singer stores or to owners of a smartphone or tablet. A PND can be easily fitted in to a vehicle or the software of the system can be downloaded onto smartphones or tablets. Singer’s extensive retail network is selling the Portable Navigation Device for Rs. 38, 499 and smartphone/tablet software license key for Rs. 3,999.

CityGuide is the only GPS navigation system in Sri Lanka to provide live traffic updates and turn-by-turn voice guidance in English, Sinhala and Tamil, courtesy of the Sri Lankan Traffic Police and Disaster Management Center. Live updates include information on unexpected road closures, blockages or changes to traffic conditions.

For drivers and passengers to experience a smoother drive and safer journey, guided maps and instructions are made available when an address to a destination, company, store, or public location is typed in to the CityGuide’s user-friendly touch-screen interface. Other features include automatic map updates, with instant and accurate information, and a 3D building view of destinations.

With more drivers using the CityGuide system due to Singer’s wide distribution, the island will experience an immense and positive change to current issues surrounding traffic control. Owners of a navigation system can reduce the time wasted in traffic jams and the resultant wastage of fuel, and having to experience inconveniences, delays and stress.

Singer activated its CityGuide service from November 2012.
