SLASSCOM IT/BPO companies lead NCE Service Export Awards

Many IT/BPO companies walked away with business and professional services awards at the recently-concluded NCE Export Awards. The awards recognised the contributions the companies have made in the ICT industry landscape in exporting business and professional services.

Some of the companies that won recognition are pioneers in the Sri Lankan IT/BPO industry. Virtusa, 99x Technology, Amba Research and HelloCorp were some of the companies which were recognised at the event.



In the Export category, under the Business and Professional Services Sector, Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd. was recognised with the Gold Award for the Extra-Large Category, 99x Technology was recognised with the Gold Award for the Medium Category, Amba Research Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. was recognised with the Silver Award for Large Category and Hello Corp (Pvt) Ltd. was recognised with the Merit Award under the Small Category.

The NCE Export Awards is organised by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka and has been in existence since 1993, recognising and rewarding export excellence of Sri Lankan exporters. The awards highlights the companies making valuable contributions to sustain and expand the Sri Lankan economy.

The Sri Lankan IT/ BPO industry is among the top five export revenue earners for Sri Lanka with the Sri Lankan IT/BPO export revenue estimated at more than US$ 400 m, having grown from US$ 310 m in 2010.

“We are delighted to see top awards for SLASSCOM companies, which are a true recognition of the export value that the IT/BPO industry brings into the country. All these companies go way beyond their individual company exports to drive the national agenda of creating a vibrant knowledge services industry in Sri Lanka. We salute their win,” said Madu Ratnayake, Vice President and Director of SLASSCOM.

SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies) is the IT/BPO industry chamber that represents the IT/BPO and knowledge services industry with revenue and employment driven by its members.

The SLASSCOM vision of the IT/BPO industry is to become the top revenue earner for the country within the next 10 years, and a medium term goal of achieving US$ 1 b in export revenue with direct employment of 80,000 within the next four years. All its endeavours are geared towards driving Sri Lanka to reach the national goal of becoming the #1 industry to lead Sri Lanka to the knowledge economy.
