Ending the year in style, SLIIT was adjudged as the ‘Best Performing CCNA Cisco Academy in Sri Lanka – 2013’ at the recently held Cisco Networking Academy Conference, cementing their status as the best higher education institute in Sri Lanka. The Cisco Regional Manager – Asia Pacific, Cisco Technical Manager – Asia Pacific, Cisco Area Manager – Sri Lanka and Maldives and the Cisco Sri Lankan instructor community were present at the prestigious event. While SLIIT is a partner of CISCO, it acts as the Cisco Academy to train students and is also the established Cisco Instructor Training Centre for the training of Cisco Academy instructors. In addition, SLIIT was also granted the role of being the ‘Cisco Academy Support Centre (ASC) for Sri Lanka and Maldives’ to ensure and maintain the high quality of the program at all Cisco Academies. Now SLIIT is equipped with all the roles of the Cisco Networking Academy Program, adding higher credibility and esteem to the degree awarding institute. Thrilled about the award, SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage noted, “CISCO is the worldwide leader in networking and we are pleased to have partnered with Cisco in bringing the highest standards in technical education to our students. This award shows our commitment towards uplifting and providing students with the opportunity to join a world team of networking professionals. Along with a series of professionally certified programs leading to world renowned CCNA and CCNP certification, we train our students to participate in Cisco Skills Competitions nationally and internationally, enabling students to showcase their understanding in areas such as troubleshooting, designing and maintaining computer networks.” While thanking the CISCO Instructors for their continuous support, Manager Professional Development Programs/Head ITSD of SLIIT Uditha Gamage said, “The CISCO Academy CCNA Program consists of four semesters, which educates students on the skills needed to design, build and maintain small to medium sized networks. Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible for a discount to follow CCENT and CCNA International Certification examinations. This provides them with the opportunity to enter the workforce or further their education and training in the computer networking field. While continuing this fruitful partnership with SLIIT, Cisco continues to support local initiatives aimed at enhancing employability for students in the IT domain.”
